The Homer Municipal Building (formerly the Town Hall Annex) is an historically significant brick building within the Town Hall complex in Belmont center. The three-story red brick building has undergone a complete renovation/restoration, with all-new systems, and is fully accessible. Because the upper floor was originally a school gymnasium, the top level of the building has very high ceilings and dormer windows for natural light, thus providing a very attractive space for an art gallery. The gallery function compliments other functions of the space, including a training/meeting room for the town.
The display area is easily accessed from the main entrance via stair or elevator, and is secured from the other floors for evening functions. Signage and a dedicated display cabinet on the main floor, featuring original artwork, directs visitors to The Gallery. The space has proximity to restrooms and a small kitchen facility for opening receptions.
The upper floor was designed with consideration of the specific requirements of an art gallery. The new space has high-quality, color-balanced, UV-filtered, incandescent track lighting, along with a gallery-quality Clip-Rail hanging system. Neutral colors and finish materials were chosen to optimize the displayed artwork.
