Dec. 19, 2020 to February 28, 2021

A Portraits Show

All New!

A Virtual BGA Exhibit
Featuring Work by Over 60 Artists
www.VirtualBGA.Org

In response to the Belmont Gallery of Art’s temporarily closing due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, we decided to create a virtual gallery space that would allow the BGA to continue to curate and display art and support artists during these uncertain times. FACING YOU: A Portraits Show is the first exhibit we’ve put together in this new online format. It was a process—with a bit of a learning curve and many hours spent building the site—but the Virtual BGA is now ready to launch.

Thank you to all the FACING YOU participating artists and the community for your continued support of the BGA and its programs.

Facing You – Call for Art

Oct. 28 to Nov. 22, 2020

A Portraits Show

There is nothing more interesting than the landscape of the human face.”

Irvin Kershner
KayHudgins-selfportrait
Kay Hudgins
RickCorbett-selfportrait
Rick Corbett

The human face has been an endless source of inspiration and fascination for artists since the beginning of civilization. During these trying months of the COVID-19 pandemic, we’ve lost that shared immediate facial recognition and emotional connection to others–whether it be a smile, a frown or even an angry grimace–since our faces have been covered by protective masks.

For the BGA’s first all Virtual Art Exhibit, we’re asking artists to submit portraits–of yourself and of others–as the gallery celebrates the common features, yet uniqueness of each human face–and the stories those faces tell.

Information

The BGA is looking for both 2 and 3D portraits created in a variety of media including painting, printmaking, collage, clay, textiles and photography for the exhibit.
NEW Submissions Deadline: Dec. 3, 9PM
Fees: $10 Per Submission; $15 Up to Three

Full Exhibit Details and Photographing Art Requirements Coming on Nov. 2, including information on the BGA’s new Virtual Gallery Site.

The Belmont Gallery of Art is Back!

January 1 to February 1, 2020

Like so many other art galleries and arts organizations, the BGA was sadly forced to close in March due to the COVD-19 pandemic. After just opening to the public, our spring ARTFUL NATURE exhibit shifted by default–and a bit of a learning curve–to the gallery’s social media outlets under the watchful eye of gallery co-director Adine Storer (with help from the BMC’s news director Frederique Rigoulot).

And while not the same as seeing art in person, we’re pleased to say that promoting the BGA’s exhibits on line through both art images and video has been a success–with lots of positive feedback–and a number of sales as well. A big thank you to BGA artists and the public’s ongoing support of the gallery during these challenging times. And please stay safe and healthy.
