The Belmont Gallery of Art is pleased to host the Newton Art Association’s 2012 James King Bonnar Award Show presenting the work of more than 60 NAA members. Each year, the Newton Art Association honors it’s founder, James King Bonnar, with this awards exhibit, open to all NAA members in good standing.

Awards including three “place” recipients and two honorable mentions, will be announced at the Opening Reception on Sunday, February 12 from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. Presentations will be made at approximately 3:00 p.m. The reception is free and open to all.

Founded in 1949 the Newton Art Association, now with a membership of 190 artists and art enthusiasts represents all visual arts media from drawing to sculpture. The majority of members live in Newton however, many others are from Boston, Brookline and surrounding communities.

Among the benefits the Newton Art Association offers to members are learning opportunities such as classes and workshops and salon and critique sessions, as well as opportunities to exhibit work in both small and large shows. The NAA coordinates minor exhibit spaces in Newton for solo shows throughout the calendar year. Additionally, members are welcome to participate in two annual award shows; the Annual NAA Award Show at the Newton Free Library and the annual James King Bonnar Awards Show, held at a different venue each year.
