Volunteering at the Belmont Gallery of Art (BGA)
We are a small cadre of dedicated artists, arts administrators and art-lovers who appreciate the invaluable contribution that the Gallery makes to the regional arts community and who want to ensure that the Gallery’s mission is fully realized.
The BGA is always looking for individuals interested in helping us manage this important community cultural asset. Volunteer opportunities at the Belmont Gallery of Art include: gallery-sitting; coordinating exhibits and special events; managing the gallery’s financial and business operations; and assisting with publicity, media and community relations.
Right now, our most important needs are:
Gallery Attendants
Gallery Attendant(s) are always needed! Each Gallery Attendant “slot” is 3 hours.
Gallery Attendants are generally responsible for opening and closing the gallery, fielding visitors inquiries, and handling sales of artwork as necessary. Volunteers may take as many slots as they like. However, rather than relying chiefly on ad hoc sign-ups, we hope to recruit several volunteers who will work a regular schedule – once a week or twice a month or whatever can be arranged. Volunteers to fill weekend slots are most in demand. Although the Gallery is under round-the-clock live video camera surveillance, gallery attendants for weekend hours – when there are not generally Town of Belmont employees on site – are encouraged to work in pairs.
